May 2018 average net salary up 3.4 percent year-on-year

In May 2018 the average net salary in Croatia was 6,352 kuna (€860), or up 1.7 percent compared to April, and 3.4 percent year-on-year, the state statistics office said on Wednesday.

According to the report, the median net salary was 5.252 kuna (€710), meaning half of all employed earned more than that, and the other half less. The average gross salary was 8,616 kuna (€1,165), up 1.9 percent compared to the month before, and 4.3 percent year-on-year.

By sector, the highest average net salary was in the production of oil products, at 16,053 kuna (€2,172) while the lowest net salary was in personal services, 4,012 kuna (€543).

Average net hourly wage in May was 34.9 kuna (€4.7), and gross wage 47.34 kuna (€6.4). The net wage was 6.5 percent down from April, and 5.4 percent up year-on-year.

Over the entire first five months of 2018, the average net salary in the country was 6,229 kuna (€843), or up 3.5 percent compared to the first five months of 2017. The average gross salary was 8,429 kuna (€1,140), or 4.2 percent up from the same period last year.
