Thirteen fans of Croatia's Hajduk football club convicted in Serbia for rioting were released from prison and banished from Serbia for one year on Saturday, Belgrade media said.

They served a 15-day sentence for violent behaviour and disturbing the peace at a petrol station outside Belgrade on their way to Bulgaria for a Hajduk-Slavia game in Sofia.

Another 13 Hajduk fans also arrested for that incident made a deal with the prosecution, pleading guilty to stealing EUR 1,700 worth of goods. They were given suspended sentences of six months with two year’s probation and were banished from Serbia for two years.

The incident occurred earlier this month when a group of some 400 Hajduk fans stopped at the said petrol station. Some of them stole a number of goods and drew graffiti, including Ustasha insignia. No one was arrested then. On their way back from Bulgaria, Serbian police intercepted and arrested 32. Five were released immediately and another minor was released later.
