Following an announcement that he would speak with the organisers of a commemoration for victims of the Bleiburg tragedy in Austria, Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandrokovic held a working meeting with the Croatian Bishops' Conference (HBK) President, Archbishop Zelimir Puljic, and the HBK Secretary-General, Bishop Petar Palic.

Jandrokovic expressed full support for the letter in which the HBK expressed its deep disagreement with the decision by the Catholic Church in the southern Austrian region of Carinthia and noted that not allowing the possibility to pray for the victims of that great tragedy of the Croatian people means disrespect for the victims and lack of sensitivity for the suffering of the innocent.

The meeting concluded that talks would continue to come to an agreement on a dignified commemoration of the victims, a Parliament press release said.
