The Croatian People's Party (HNS) on Monday said it was satisfied with the 2.6% of the vote which this party won at the European election on Sunday, and this result has positioned it as the strongest liberal party in the country.

The HNS says that it is prepared to gather civic-liberal centrist parties which all together won more than 100,000 votes on Sunday.

We are convinced that consolidating the liberal scene is a recipe for success and progress of an open and tolerant society, HNS posted on its Facebook profile, underlining that it is offering a hand of cooperation to all liberals in the country.

The 27,958 votes the HNS gained at the European election has positioned it as the strongest civil-liberal centre party, leaving the Start, IDS, Smart, Glas, Reformists and HSLS behind them.

HNS underscored that the good election result was achieved despite the obvious trend of mainstream parties having less and less support while at the same time support is growing for new parties and individuals.
