
In the first four months of 2019, Croatia's commodity exports totaled HRK 35.9 billion, up 7.7% on the year, while imports went up 8.7% to HRK 61.3 billion, the national statistical office said on Friday.
The trade deficit was HRK 25.5 billion, 2.3 billion less than in the first four months of 2018. The export-import ratio dropped from 59% in said period to 58.5%.
Commodity exports to the EU totaled HRK 24.5 billion, up 5.8% on the year, while exports to non-EU countries went up 12% to HRK 11.4 billion.
Commodity imports from the EU increased 11.4% to HRK 50 billion, while imports from non-EU countries fell 2% to HRK 11.3 billion.
Expressed in euros, commodity exports in the first four months of 2019 totaled 4.83 billion, up 8.2% on the year, while imports increased by 9.2% to 8.3 billion. The trade deficit was EUR 3.43 billion, up from 3.1 billion in the first four months of 2018.
