Total deposits with commercial banks, which include demand deposits and savings and time deposits, continued to rise both monthly and annually, reaching nearly HRK 293 billion at the end of July, data from the Croatian central bank (HNB) show.

They increased by HRK 2.9 billion or 1% compared with June and by HRK 13.3 billion or 4.7%
compared with July 2018.

The increases were the result of a rise in demand deposits, which include money in transaction accounts and banks’ obligations arising from kuna payment instruments issued.

Demand deposits reached their record nominal value of over HRK 99.2 billion, accounting for 34% of total deposits. They increased by HRK 2.9 billion or 3% on the month and by HRK 16.4 billion on the year, continuing their rise at two-digit rates, with minor departures, since early 2015.
