At the end of August 2019, there were 114,498 persons registered with the Croatian Employment Service (HZZ), up 0.1% on the month and down 14.6% on the year, the HZZ said on Tuesday.
HZZ figures indicate that there were 109 more unemployed at the end of August compared to July but 19,613 fewer registered jobless people than in August last year.
That is the second consecutive month that the number of unemployed grew on the month after a five-month declining streak.
In August 24,671 jobless persons received unemployment benefits, or 21.5% of the total number of people seeking work. The number of those on the dole decreased by 3.1% on the year or by 791 persons.
