The Croatian Post (HP) New Sorting Centre, an investment worth HRK 350 million (approx. EUR 47.36 million), was opened in Velika Gorica outside Zagreb on Monday evening.

The centre was opened by Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic, who said that with the centre, the HP was catching up with the fourth industrial revolution.

This is the HP’s biggest capital investment, expected to help it improve the quality of its services.

The NSC will centralise operations such as post sorting, transport and international operations.

The centre is located at the entrance to Velika Gorica, close to the Franjo Tudjman International Airport, a highway and an expressway.

Its construction started in 2017, the value of the entire project is HRK 350 million, it employs more than 1,500 workers – in its sorting unit, postal logistics, parcel logistics, transport and transport fleet, IT service and data centre as well as business support unit.

HP says the new centre is of great importance for the company’s future and development of its core business. The NSC is also important for the development of e-commerce in Croatia and is the only right response to the ever growing parcel market, says HP.

The most modern technology enabling a faster and more efficient sorting of letters and parcels is proof of HP’s good and well-thought-out policy, said PM Plenkovic, adding that HP had caught up with the fourth industrial revolution while maintaining jobs.

“This way HP, which is owned 100% by the Republic of Croatia, contributes also to overall investments,” he said, adding that he was glad the average wage in HP was above the national average.
