A parliamentary deputy, Mirando Mrsic, said on Tuesday that his party called the Democrats would support Zoran Milanovic of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the forthcoming presidential election, which Croatia is to hold at the end of this year.
Mrsic, who used to be the Labour and Pension System Minister in the government led by former prime minister Milanovic (SDP), told a news conference that Milanovic was the only candidate that “can prevent the joint destruction of Croatia which is being conducted by (incumbent president) Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic and the HDZ with (Prime Minister Andrej) Plenkovic at its helm.”
After he was expelled from the SDP when Davor Bernardic took to the helm of the party, Mrsic formed a new party — the Democrats — in October 2018.
