Real sector records business activity rise in 2018

In 2018, the Croatian economy's real sector registered a nominal growth of business activity in relation to 2017, with turnover increasing by 7%, added value by 7.2% and the number of people employed by 0.9%, according to the national statistical office.

In 2018, 153,363 business entities with over a million employees operated in the real sector, generating HRK 697.4 billion in turnover and HRK 186 billion in added value.

Of that number, 77,874 business entities were in non-financial services, 35,205 in retail trade, 21,461 in industry and 18,823 in construction.

As for employees, 379,252 were in non-financial services and 316,529 in industry.

Business entities in retail trade generated HRK 271.3 billion in turnover, those in industry HRK 219.7 billion, those in non-financial services HRK 157.4 billion and those in construction almost HRK 49 billion.

In 2018, real sector business entities increased their revenues from the sale of products and services - by 5.1% in industry, by 5.9% in non-financial services, by 8.6% in retail trade and by 10.8% in construction.

Real sector business entities generated HRK 186 billion in added value, up 7.2% from 2017. Those in non-financial services generated nearly HRK 71 billion in added value, those in industry HRK 61.7 billion, those in retail trade almost HRK 36 billion and those in construction almost HRK 14 billion.
