An estimated 1.5 billion people speak English today, and Croatians are the 14th best non-native English speakers in the world, CNN reported.
The findings of an online survey in 2018, which included 2.3 million from across the world, show that the Dutch are the most fluent non-native English speakers.
The results of the English Proficiency Index, based on a free online test, show that “Sweden was positioned just below, with a score of 68.74 out of 100, while Norway came in third with 67.93 points.”
Denmark and Singapore also ranked among the top five countries.
According to the EF Education First survey, Croatia ranked 14th and is placed between Belgium and Hungary.
The first 14 countries are categorised as showing very high proficiency in English.
