A total of 1.54 million people in Croatia were gainfully employed at the end of December 2019, down by 0.2 percent from the previous month and up by 1% from December 2018, while the registered unemployment rate was 7.9 percent, the state statistics bureau reported on Monday.
Data supplied by the Croatian Employment Service (HZZ) show that 131,753 unemployed people were registered with the HZZ at the end of December 2019, which is 2.6 percent more than in November 2019 and 11.5 percent fewer than in December 2018.
The registered unemployment rate, calculated as the share of unemployed people in the total active population, was 7.9 percent in December 2019, up by 0.2 percentage points from the previous month.
