The Archbishop of Zagreb, Cardinal Josip Bozanic, has extended Eastern greetings to the Metropolitan of Zagreb and Ljubljana Porfirije as well as Orthodox believers who celebrate it according to the Julian calendar.
In a message on Thursday, Bozanic thanked Porfirije for his Easter greetings to him and the faithful who celebrated it last Sunday as well as for the support extended in the wake of the Zagreb earthquake.
“Besides the pandemic, in Zagreb our test is even deeper because of the consequences of the earthquake which has left marks on the souls and homes of people as well as on churches and other places of worship and prayer,” Bozanic wrote.
On Friday, the president of the Croatian Bishops’ Conference (HBK), Zelimir Puljic, extended Easter greetings to the patriarch of the Serb Orthodox Church Irinej and Orthodox believers in Croatia, saying that strengthened by faith Christians were capable of standing firm in all setbacks.
Monsignor Puljic, the Archbishop of Zadar, thanked Irinej for the letter of support after the Zagreb quake in which he expressed brotherly closeness to the Croatian clergy and Catholic believers, the HBK said in a press release.
Puljic extended Easter greetings also to the Metropolitan of Zagreb and Ljubljana Porfirije, Episcope Nikodim of Dalmatia, Episcope Jovan of Pakrac and Slavonia, and Episcope Arsenije of Nis, thanking them for their Easter greetings to him, the clergy and the faithful.
