A total of 1,335 people in Slovenia are infected with the Covid-19 coronavirus, with considerably more women than men infected with the novel virus, the government said on its website on Monday.
To date, the infection has been confirmed in 593 men and 742 women. Women prevail in all age groups but two, as the number of infected men is slightly higher in the age groups 55-64 and 65-74.
The country’s death toll stands at 77. Although the gender of victims is not given, it is believed a majority of them are women because most of the deaths have been recorded among residents of nursing homes who are predominantly women because of their longer life expectancy.
Interestingly, the lowest number of cases has been recorded in two regions bordering Italy, whose densely populated north is Europe’s largest hotspot of Covid-19 infection.
