Health services in Bosnia and Herzegovina said on Monday that the epidemiological situation in that country was stable, which meant that measures introduced to prevent the spread of the coronavirus infection could be further relaxed.
Representatives from the Institute for Public Health of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Federation's Health Ministry confirmed that the current situation regarding the coronavirus epidemic was good and there was a possibility to ease the restrictive measures introduced due to the pandemic.
By Monday, 1,500 persons tested positive for the coronavirus infection in Bosnia and Herzegovina, out of nearly 26,000 tested persons, and there were 60 deaths.
Since Sunday, 49 persons have tested positive, and about a thousand samples have been tested.
Head of the Institute for Public Health of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Davor Pehar, told reporters in Sarajevo that the numbers were encouraging, especially in the Federation, where there had been only 14 new cases of the infection, and he underscored that it was now necessary to learn to live with the virus as it had not disappeared.
"The satisfactory epidemiological situation leaves room for easing measures so that life could resume until a vaccine against the SARS-CoV-2 virus is found," Pehar said, adding that it was especially important that the number of recoveries in Bosnia was steadily increasing.
