In the first week after the easing of Covid-19 restrictions in Croatia, on May 11-17, about 8,700 tourists and 84,500 bed nights were recorded in country's electronic visitor registry system, the national tourist boartd HTZ said on Monday.

HTZ said that in April this year there were about 9,500 tourist arrivals and 392,000 bed nights reported.

Last week, domestic tourists accounted for three quarters of all arrivals (74 percent), followed by visitors from neighbouring Slovenia (15 percent).

HTZ also announced that it is preparing two promotional campaigns for foreign markets – one for Central European countries from which visitors are more likely to visit Croatia by car – such as Slovenia, Hungary, Germany, Austria, Poland, Italy, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic – and another which would target important overseas markets from which tourists are not expected to be able to travel to Croatia soon due to the pandemic restrictions, such as the United States, China, or South Korea.
