Croatia's President and Prime Minister congratulated Eid el-Fitr, locally called Bayram, to all Muslims on Saturday.

The three-day holiday marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadan and starts with a communal dawn prayer that is followed by a sermon.

President Zoran Milanovic on Saturday extended greetings to all Muslims.”After a month of prayer and abstinence, I wish you joyful moments of family and religious community. May this holiday of sacrifice and abstinence also be an inspiration in promoting mutual understanding and respect for the well-being of the society we live in,” he said in a note.

Bayram Serif Mubarek Olsun, the president added.

Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic on Saturday extended greetings to the head of the Islamic community in Croatia, Mufti Aziz Hasanovic, and all Muslims as well.

“The good relations between the government and the Islamic Community in Croatia are historically rooted. May they continue to encourage us to contribute, through open dialogue and cooperation, to preserving mutual understanding, respect and religious tolerance for the well-being of our homeland and the society we live in,” Plenkovic said in a note.
