Eleven more cases have been confirmed in the last 24 hours in Tesanj in central Bosnia, which has been the epidemic hotspot for days, the Clinical Centre in Sarajevo confirmed on Thursday.

After 259 samples tested, 12 cases of the infection have been registered, of which 11 in Tesanj and one in Sarajevo. That is the first case of the infection in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s capital since mid-May, while Tesanj has been recording daily a two-digit increase in the number of patients since the outbreak on May 21.

To date, a total of 93 cases of the infection have been confirmed in that city, which puts it in the fourth, that is fifth, place in Bosnia in terms of the number of patients, together with Mostar, where an identical number of cases has been confirmed.

Banja Luka is the biggest epidemic hotspot, where 608 persons have been infected, of the slightly under 2,600 patients in the whole of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Healthcare authorities have registered slightly under 2,000 recoveries.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina nearly all restrictive measures introduced at the beginning of the epidemic have been abolished, but classes at schools and universities are still not being conducted, and it is mandatory to use protective masks indoors.

Citizens are still faced with restrictions when travelling abroad since the only borders they can freely cross are those with Serbia and Montenegro, while citizens carrying a Bosnia and Herzegovina passport can only enter Croatia if they present a confirmation of tourist accommodation booking or if they own a property in that country.
