Two new cases of coronavirus infection have been detected in Slovenia in the last 24 hours, both in Jesenice, a town about 60 kilometres north of Ljubljana, the government confirmed on Friday.

The infection was confirmed in a nurse at the General Hospital in Jesenice, and its source has not been established yet. It was found that she had not been infected by any of the patients.

The other case is a person working at a local primary school who is reportedly related to the infected nurse, according to media reports.

With the two latest cases, the total number of cases since the start of the epidemic has risen to 1,479. The death toll remains at 109 as none of the infected persons have died in the last 24 hours. Only six people are being treated for the infection at the University Clinical Centre in Ljubljana and none of them are in intensive care or on a ventilator.
