Twenty-one new cases of coronavirus infection have been confirmed in Slovenia after 1,198 tests carried out in the last 24 hours, the government said on Thursday.
This was the largest daily increase in the number of cases since April 16 when 36 tests returned positive.
Nine people infected with Covid-19 are currently in hospital, one more than on Wednesday, but none required intensive care.
The number of infections confirmed to date has reached 1,634 and the death toll has remained at 111. The number of active infections per 100,000 people is 5.9, which puts Slovenia among epidemiologically safe countries.
Local media quoted medical professionals as saying that Slovenia should declare a state of epidemic again if the number of new cases increased to 30 daily. They said that there should not be another lockdown because life needs to continue in “the new normality”.
