Two opposition parties - SiP and Pametno - expect Minister Oleg Butkovic to step down considering the "high moral criteria" he promoted when commenting on the corruption scandal involving his party colleagues and other members of the political elite.
After admitting that he had visited the “club” owned by former Janaf CEO Dragan Kovacevic, who is suspected of white-collar crime, the two parties on Monday recalled Sea and Transport Minister Oleg Butkovic’s recent statements and they added “he raised the level of political responsibility for other scandals to the height the he himself cannot achieve.”
“Rarely has any other minister in Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic’s previous cabinet made it known in almost every scandal involving other people, that every senior state official is called for political responsibility, as has Minister Oleg Butkovic,” the two opposition parties said in a press release.
They underscored that consistency in applying that same criteria to oneself is a more important test of political responsibility and ethics than towards others which is why Butkovic needs to recall his own statements that he made about various scandals.
