Former state secretary and former Knin mayor Josipa Rimac, a suspect in the wind park corruption scandal, was released from Zagreb's Remetinec prison on Tuesday after being detained since the end of May.

Earlier today, the USKOK anti-corruption office proposed that Rimac be released from custody and her lawyer Lidija Horvat said that USKOK had not requested another remand nor expanded the investigation into her client.

USKOK investigators today interviewed the last two witnesses who they feared Rimac could tamper with if released.

Rimac was last remanded on August 28, when the investigating judge granted USKOK’s motion that she stay in custody for two more months. However, Rimac lodged an appeal, which was granted with release set for today.

At the end of August, USKOK expanded the investigation into Rimac for the third time, on which occasion she pleaded not guilty.

Rimac was arrested on May 29 along with 12 other people on suspicion of influence peddling, abuse of office and authority, and bribery.
