Number of industrial workers down compared to August last year

The total number of workers in the industrial sector in Croatia in August 2020 was unchanged compared to July, while compared to August 2019 it was down 3.1%, show data from the national statistical office.

Monthly data on employment trends in the industrial sector show that the number of workers dropped the most in auxiliary mining services, by 12.4%, and in garment production, by 3.3%.

The number of workers grew the most in textile production, by 8.7%, and in the production of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers.

Year-on-year, garment and tobacco production saw the biggest drops in the number of workers, of 10.6% and 8.8% respectively.

The number of workers grew on the year in textile production, by 19%, in the production of basic pharmaceutical products and preparations, by 5.1% and in the production of paper and paper products, by 1.4%.

In the first eight months of this year, the number of industrial workers dropped by 3.1% from the same period of 2019.

Labour productivity in the industrial sector in the January-August 2020 period was down 1.7% from the same period of 2019.
