The Croatian government on Thursday decided on paying HRK 21.2 million to the European Union fund for curbing the spread of Covid-19.
The fund, called the Emergency Support Instrument, helps member states in their efforts to address the coronavirus pandemic.The instrument is based on the principle of solidarity and pools efforts and resources to quickly address shared strategic needs.
A significant part of the budget available under the European Support Instrument will be used to secure the production of vaccines in the EU and sufficient supplies for the member states through advance purchase agreements with vaccine producers.
The EU member states have been requested to provide an additional €750 million to enable the conclusion of the said agreements.
Croatia is expected to pay 0.4% of its Gross National Income, that is €2.81 million or HRK 21.26 million, Health Minister Vili Beros said.
