Health Minister Vili Beros said on Thursday that the government had appointed a new steering board of Zagreb's KB Dubrava hospital after an inspection identified omissions, and the new board would decide whether hospital manager Srecko Marusic would be dismissed.
Minor omissions have been identified in the provision of medical care as has an inadequate level of communication between the hospital management and coordinators in charge of the treatment of Covid-19 patients, Beros told a news conference.
Three days ago the Health Ministry sent a team to KB Dubrava to carry out an inspection after a physician working there made public a letter warning about the situation in the hospital’s unit for respiratory support and intensive care.
Based on the findings of the inspection, the government has decided to replace the current steering board and the new board will decide on the fate of hospital director Srecko Marusic, who is still running the hospital.
The new board will meet as soon as possible and make a decision, and as minister I can only dismiss the manager if the board does not do it and can do so within a 30-day period, said Beros.
