A Homeland Movement party official in charge of organisational matters has sent a letter to Justice and Public Administration Minister Ivan Malenica accusing the ministry of obstructing the registration of the party's newly-stablished local branches.
The letter says that the Homeland Movement has submitted more than 80 requests for the registration of local branches and that it has been submitting the necessary documents on a daily basis.
Referring to the Act on Political Parties, under which a party is obliged to report the establishment of a local chapter to the Public Administration Ministry within a period of 15 days, secretary Darijo Zepina says the party has met its obligation but has not received any answer from the ministry.
“It may be that the Homeland Movement has already been banned… in line with … Deputy Prime Minister Tomo Medved’s announcement following the attempted murder of a police officer working as a guard for the government,” the party says in reference to the October 12 attack on Government House by a 22-year-old man.
Zepina says that the party has clearly condemned the attack just as any other form of radicalisation and use of undemocratic methods.
