Member of Parliament Anka Mrak Taritas on Friday said in parliament that someone needs to inform Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic that 4,000 Zagreb residents still have no gas, heating or hot water since the 22 March earthquake, yet winter is around the corner.

She recalled that Zagreb Mayor Milan Bandic, who is a reliable partner to the prime minister, on April 23 already warned that it was necessary to amend the law on flammable liquids so that households could have gas supplies reinstalled in the wake of the earthquake.

However to this day, absolutely nothing has been done and on October 27 the Zagreb City Assembly adopted that same conclusion, Mrak Taritas explained.

She warned that it is obvious that households will not have gas re-installed until February next year and will spend the winter without heating or hot water.

The earthquake in Zagreb exposed a series of problems and one of the biggest problems was with chimneys and the state decided to donate HRK 12,000 per household for their repairs.

The programme of measures foreseen for these projects cost between HRK 3,000 and 30,000 while chimney repairs cost about HRK 70,000, Mrak Tartias warned.

Rade Simicevic (HDZ) said that everything would be done so as to reconnect households to gas supplies this winter and have heating and hot water.
