Parliament on Wednesday rejected an interpellation on the government's work regarding the Krs-Padjene wind park submitted by the Homeland Movement, with the support of 20 other opposition MPs, which asked the government to submit to parliament all contracts and decisions on the project.

Seventy-six MPs voted against the interpellation, 51 voted for, and two abstained.

Citing calculations by experts they hired, the Homeland Movement claimed that in 14 years Croatian consumers would pay HRK 2.2 billion more for electricity than they should under the price envisaged by law. The party said the price was due to “shameless favouring and corruption under the direction of the HNS, the SDP and the HDZ.”

The Krs-Padjene project was launched in 2003 by an Austrian investor and taken over by the CEMP energy company in 2012. Institutions and ministries under a number of governments worked on it.

During Tuesday’s debate on the interpellation, Economy Minister Tomislav Coric said all actions by the relevant ministry had been in line with the law and adopted after consultation with the State Attorney’s Office, and that they were upheld in court.

Davor Dretar of the Homeland Movement said the conduct of the ruling coalition was shameful and that the rejection of the interpellation was a continuation of hiding corruption.

Branko Bacic of the ruling HDZ dismissed with indignation the opposition’s accusations of the government’s corruption in connection with Krs-Padjene.

Also today, parliament passed a law on the posting of workers in Croatia and the crossborder enforcement of fines which equates the terms and rights of posted and domestic workers.
