The Archbishop of Zagreb, Cardinal Josip Bozanic, on Thursday called for solidarity and responsibility for the sake of public health in the times of the pandemic and said that one should neither dramatise nor downplay the current situation.
Underscoring that it is necessary to preserve that which is valuable and precious with regard to celebrating Masses, the Cardinal called for mutual solidarity, responsibility and adapting to the epidemiological situation, a press release said.
During his meeting with archdeacons and priests from the archdiocese, the cardinal called for more frequent Masses to be celebrated to distribute the number of worshippers at more services and possibly broadcast Masses online for those who cannot attend in person.
He underlined that it was important for the faithful to be properly informed. It would be worthwhile he added that the period for the usual family blessing in people’s homes to be extended and conducted at the request of the family with full respect for epidemic prevention measures as best suits each particular family.
