White House special envoy for the Kosovo talks Ambassador Richard Grenell said in an Instagram post that he was presented the National Security Medal by President Donald Trump for “exceptional contributions” which led to the signing of an agreement to normalize Belgrade-Pristina economic relations.
“This was a great honor – especially because it came from Donald Trump who has used diplomacy to bring peace to the world,” the post said. According to Grenell, Trump signed peace deals and did not start new wars.
The medal citation said that Grenell is being honored for “exceptional contributions leading to the signing of the historic normalization of economic relations between Serbia and Kosovo”.
“Ambassador Grenell’s contributions in achieving this historic diplomatic breakthrough in Serbia and Kosovo will lead to a brighter future for millions of people. Ambassador Grenell is one of President Donald J. Trump’s key advisors,” it said.
