Caritas Croatia launched a donation phone line (060 9010) on 29 December for donations for earthquake relief and since then it has received almost 100,000 calls from citizens donating to the relief fund for residents of Petrinja, Sisak and Glina affected by the devastating quake.

Caritas Croatia thanked everyone who called and made a donation.

We are pleased to hear that the government will not charge VAT on those calls and on donations earmarked for people affected the earthquake, Caritas said.

Caritas Croatia in cooperation with the Caritas organisation in the Diocese of Sisak and together with the Caritas Europa and Caritas Internationalis network is continuing to help people in the area with the money donated for their urgent needs, preparing hot meals, and also providing them with accommodation or building material.

This past Friday, the director of the Caritas Croatia charity, Fabijan Svalina, and the owner of the Tehnix company, Djuro Horvat, signed an agreement on the procurement of 100 prefab housing modules for earthquake victims in Sisak-Moslavina County.
