Croatia's chief epidemiologist Krunoslav Capak said on Saturday that nothing dramatic would happen over Easter if people complied with the coronavirus measures prescribed by the national COVID response team.
Speaking on Croatian Radio, he said the epidemiological situation had deteriorated due to the third wave of the pandemic and the more contagious new variants, but that warmer weather would now slow down the spread of infection by air.
If numbers keep rising, some tighter restrictions can be reinstated
However, if the current rise in new cases and hospitalisations continues, some of the tight restrictions that were imposed on 27 November could be reinstated, Capak said.
He underlined the need to reduce gatherings and mobility as much as possible.
