The executives of the Coca-Cola Croatia on Monday presented a 1 million kuna (€130,000) donation to the Red Cross for its activities in the earthquake-affected areas in Sisak-Moslavina County.
The donation, which has been provided with the assistance of the philanthropic Coca-Cola Foundation, will be used for the procurement of eight field tents for the distribution of food and other necessary items to quake victims.
In addition, a 240-square-metre hard-floor tent will be provided for the storage of collected donations, and the humanitarian aid also includes the procurement of nine forklifts, 85 makeshift beds as well as 10 laptops for Red Cross mobile teams.
During the donation-presentation ceremony in the container settlement in Glina, Red Cross Croatia executive president Robert Markt thanked the company for its assistance.
General Manager of Coca-Cola HBC for Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Slovenia, Ruza Tomic-Fontana, said that it would take some time before residents in the quake-affected areas could have the same living conditions as those before the 29 December earthquake.
“This donation represents support to try and make that (normalization) process faster,” she said.
Last year, the Coca-Cola company donated more than 2.5 million kuna for various philanthropic activities in Croatia, and 1.7 million kuna of that amount was allocated to relieve the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic and 850,000 kuna in aid to quake victims in the City of Zagreb.
