The Conflict of Interest Commission on Thursday launched proceedings against former JANAF director Dragan Kovacevic due to a discrepancy in his declaration of assets.
A regular inspection of declarations of assets revealed a discrepancy in Kovacevic’s declaration.
The commission has not launched proceedings against Zagreb Mayor Tomislav Tomasevic and his deputy, Luka Korlaet, who were reported for allegedly influencing decisions and the way the City institute for the protection of cultural and natural monuments operated.
The complaint was submitted anonymously and as such the commission could not contact the applicant to specify the allegations.
A complaint was filed against Zapresic Mayor Zeljko Turk for alleged political bartering by appointing certain councillors as advisers and in that way won their favour when voting for city council decisions.
The commission could not identify any connection between Turk and other councillors and said they were appointed in keeping with the city’s statute.
The commission also did not launch proceedings against the former mayor of Split, Andro Krstulovic-Opara whose wife allegedly owned property within the Marjan nature park for which an application had allegedly been submitted for it to be declared as a construction lot. The competent ministry and the public institution that manages the Marjan nature park have said that they have not received any request for the land concerned to be rezoned.
