Coronavirus: Bosnia logs 1,869 new cases and 76 deaths

A total of 1,869 new coronavirus infections were confirmed and 76 COVID-19 patients passed away in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the past 24 hours, healthcare authorities reported on Friday.

The new results came from 5,177 lab tests performed on those who reported infection symptoms.

In Bosnia’s Federation (FBiH) entity, 1,260 of the 3,789 people tested since Thursday were positive for the virus and 59 patients died due to the disease, said the healthcare authorities.

In the other semi-autonomous entity, Republika Srpska (RS), 1,284 samples were tested and the results for 505 people were positive, while 16 COVID-19 patients died.

Bosnia’s Brcko District also reported 104 new infections and one COVID-19 fatality.

A total of 162,032 people have tested positive for the coronavirus in Bosnia since the beginning of the pandemic and more than 128,000 have recovered so far.

Bosnia’s COVID-19 death toll stands at 6,220.
