Croatia will set aside as much as 10 million kuna (€1.3m) for scholarships in the academic year 2021-22 for students from ethnic Croatian communities abroad.

The Office for Croats Abroad has significantly increased the number and amount of scholarships for those students, so instead of 500 scholarships, which is how many were awarded in the academic year 2020/2021, it will award 1,000 scholarships in the academic year 2021/2022, and instead of HRK 750, they will amount to HRK 1,000 a month.

Of the 1,000 scholarships, 750 are intended for students studying in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and 250 for those studying in Croatia – 200 for Croats from Bosnia and Herzegovina, 30 for members of the Croat minority, and 20 for members of the Croat expatriate community.

Applications for scholarships will be received until 19 January 2022 and they will be awarded based on applicants’ grades and financial status.
