As of 1 March restaurants and cafes will be allowed to reopen their outdoor terraces to customers. Indoor sports training will be allowed as well, Prime Minister, Andrej Plenkovic, announced on Thursday in a cabinet meting.

All cafes and restaurants in the country have been closed by order of the government's coronavirus task force since the last day of November, decimating the industry and also disrupting daily life and social gatherings.

"The government considers this to be good considering the circumstances, in compliance with epidemiological measures. The national coronavirus task force will speak about that in more detail at its press conference tomorrow," Plenkovic said.

He added that if the coronavirus case numbers worsen, the restrictions could be tightened again.
