Croatian airports served slightly over two million passengers in the first 11 months of 2020, which is a decrease of 81.3% compared with the same period of 2019, data from the National Bureau of Statistics (DZS) shows.

In November 2020 alone, all nine Croatian airports recorded 55,000 passengers, which is 84% fewer than in November 2019 and a direct consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic.

That month the largest number of passengers was reported by Zagreb Airport – 42,000, which is a decline of nearly 83% compared with November 2019. At the same time Split Airport served 8,000 passengers (-82%), while Dubrovnik Airport was used by 4,000 passengers (-92.4%).

Most of the passengers recorded in November 2020 – 13,000 – flew to and from Germany, which is a fall of 87.2%.

In the first 11 months of last year the Croatian airports handled 7,000 tonnes of cargo, or 33% less than in the same period of the previous year. In November alone, 646 tonnes were handled, down by 25% on the year.

In January-November 2020, the airports operated 51,700 flights (-58.5%), including 2,800 in November alone (-45%).
