Croatian MEP Biljana Borzan has been elected vice-president of the Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament and will be in charge of building an economy that works for citizens, the MEP's office said in a press release on Wednesday.
According to the press release, the appointment has made Borzan one of the most influential MEPs in the European Parliament, where the S&D is the second largest group, with 145 MEPs.
Until the end of her term, Borzan will determine the priorities of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament according to the European laws and initiatives from her portfolio, and she will coordinate the work and strategies in negotiations between EU institutions.
