About 200 people were involved in a fight between members of Bad Blue Boys, the Dinamo Zagreb football club's supporters, and Polish supporters in Zagreb on Tuesday evening, police said, adding that no one was injured.
The fight broke out around 9.30 pm, police told state agency Hina. Police were on the scene from the start, preventing a possibly bigger clash.
According to the media and eyewitnesses, the supporters carried planks and bats. They took chairs from bar terraces and threw them at each other. A smaller group clashed in a nearby car park, throwing flares and stones at each other.
Citing supporter sources, the media said the clash was allegedly provoked by the Poles who arrived in Zagreb by bus, some from the Adriatic coast where they were on holiday and some from abroad, to cause riots ahead of Wednesday’s qualifier between Dinamo and Legia Warsaw.
