President Zoran Milanovic has said that Earth Day, observed on 22 April, "should be seen as an opportunity to urge global leaders, politicians, inventors, entrepreneurs and citizens to take joint action and seek better solutions for the renewal of our planet."

“Climate change, pollution and other threats to the natural systems on the Earth could jeopardise the lives of millions of people and de-stablise the global economy with unforeseeable social consequences,” the Croatian president said in a message posted on his Facebook.

Milanovic also warned against being at ease with the mistakes we did in the past.

“We are today aware that we can build a better society and that it is our joint imperative to invest into the revitalisation of our planet,” he said, “among other things,” according to Croatian state agency Hina.
