Top seeds Nikola Mektic and Mate Pavic on Saturday won the Wimbledon men's doubles title when they defeated Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos 6-4 7-6(5) 2-6 7-5 and thus became the first all-Croatian pair to capture a Grand Slam men's doubles title.

Their victory happened 20 years after Goran Ivanisevic, the best Croatian tennis player, defeated Patrick Rafter, to be become the lowest-ranked player and the first wildcard entry to win Wimbledon.

In 2018, another Croatian tennis player, Ivan Dodig, clinched Wimbledon’s mixed doubles title with his partner Latisha Chan.

Croatia’s umpire Marija Cicak first woman to referee the men’s final

On Sunday, Croatian tennis chair umpire, Marija Cicak, will make Wimbledon history when she officiates the men’s final.

Cicak, 43, is set to become the first female umpire for a men’s singles final in the history of the Wimbledon Championships.

Sunday’s match will be played between 19-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic and first-time Grand Slam finalist Matteo Berrettini.
