Croatia's Davis Cup national team player Ivan Dodig and Slovak tennis player Filip Polašek on Sunday won their first joint Grand Slam title after they defeated Rajeev Ram of the USA and Joe Salisbury of Great Britain 6-3 6-4 in the Australian Open men's doubles final.

This is Dodig’s second Grand Slam trophy in men’s doubles, and he won the first one in 2015 at the Roland-Garros tournament with Marcelo Melo of Brazil. The 36-year-old tennis player from Međugorje also has three trophies in mixed doubles with Latisha Chan of Taiwan, with whom he twice won the Roland- Garros tournament, in 2018 and 2019, and once Wimbledon (2019).

Filip Polašek has become the second Slovak tennis player with a Grand Slam title, and only female tennis player Daniela Hantuchova won one in mixed doubles before him.

Dodig’s last trophy is the 16th won by Croatia’s female and male tennis players in Grand Slam tournaments in senior competitions.
