Croatia's best skier Filip Zubcic won the silver medal in the parallel giant slalom in the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in the Italian ski resort of Cortina d'Ampezzo on Tuesday.
This is Zubcic's first race in the Cortina championships, and he immediately grabbed a medal, coming in behind Frenchman Mathieu Faivre. The bronze medal went to Switzerland's Loic Meillard who finished ahead of Germany's Alexander Schmid.
This is the first medal for Croatia's skiing in the world championships since Ivica Kostelic had won the silver medal in Schladming in 2013. It is Croatia's tenth world championship medal overall.
