Eight percent of EU population unable to keep their homes adequately warm

According to an EU-wide survey, eight percent of people living in the EU said they were unable to keep their homes adequately warm in 2020.

The situation varied across member countries, with the largest share of people saying they were unable to heat their homes in Bulgaria (27.5 percent), followed by Lithuania (23 percent), Cyprus (21 percent), and Portugal and Greece (17 percent each).

The survey showed that the share of people unable to afford adequate heating was the lowest in Austria (1.5 percent), followed by Finland (1.8 percent), the Czech Republic (2.2 percent) and the Netherlands (2.4 percent).

In Croatia, 5.7 percent of those polled said they could not keep their home adequately warn, as did 6.5 percent of French respondents, 9 percent of Germans and 10.9 percent of Spaniards.
