A Zagreb County Court enforcement judge has ruled that former Dinamo football club trainer Zoran Mamic and former tax official Milan Pernar are required to appear at prison in Zagreb on 10 May to serve their sentences.
Mamic’s defence attorneys had previously requested that their client should be allowed to serve his sentence in Bosnia and Herzegovina as he has dual citizenship however the relevant judge dismissed the request, state agency Hina reported, citing court sources.

If Mamic does not turn up on 10 May, a European Arrest Warrant will be issued against him, Zagreb County Court spokesman Kresimir Devcic told state agency Hina.
Zoran Mamic earlier sent a message from Bosnia and Herzegovina that he is not on the run but was using his legal right to which he was entitled to under agreements between the two countries and his dual citizenship. His brother Zdravko previously applied to serve his sentence in BiH, where he fled to in June 2018, just prior to the announcement of the verdict by Osijek County Court.
In addition to Mamic, former tax collector Milan Pernar was also ordered to appear and serve his sentence in the same case. Pernar has the right to appeal the decision and ask that executing the sentence be postponed for personal, professional or health reasons while Mamć no longer has the right to appeal as he did not turn up to court for today.
The Supreme Court upheld a conviction against the Mamics in mid March. The two brothers were convicted or siphoning 116 million kuna from the Dinamo Zagreb football club. Zdravko Mamic was sentenced to six and a half years, Zoran Mamic was sentenced to four years and eight months while Pernar got thee years and two months. Former Dinamo club director Damir Vrbanović was sentenced to three years.
Two judges at Osijek County Court were recently suspended after Mamić released information of his associating with them during the time of the trial. In the meantime a second trial for siphoning money from the club has been launched.
