The HALMED medicines agency will examine three more deaths that occurred after inoculation to see if they are related and it has called for additional documentation to determine if there is any causal relationship to inoculation with the AstraZeneca vaccine, HALMED said on Friday.
Three more people, born in 1932, 1942 and 1952, have died soon after being inoculated with the vaccine.
So far there have been 12 reports of suspect adverse effects with a fatal outcome that are related to recent vaccination, HALMED said.
In nine cases it is not possible to determine on the basis of the documents received whether there is any causal relationship to vaccination, and additional data has been requested.
In three cases, and based on medical documentation, it was determined that it was unlikely that the fatal outcomes, including individual cases of pulmonary thromboembolism, were related to inoculation.
Six cases with adverse effects with a fatal outcome that happened after inoculation were found not to be related to inoculation.
Of the 18 reported cases with adverse effects, nine patients were given the Pfizer vaccine and nine the AstraZeneca vaccine.
HALMED added that to date it had received a total of 1,862 reports of adverse effects after inoculation.
Almost 350,000 doses of vaccine have been administered in Croatia and there have been 52 reports of adverse effects per 10,000 doses administered.
HALMED said that in 86% of the reported cases the adverse effects were mild symptoms.
