CEO of Telemach Croatia, Adrian Jezina, appeared on Friday in N1 Television's live program to share details on innovations they are bringing to market, the company's plans, and to tell users what to expect from Telemach Croatia and their EON television streaming platform. Pročitaj više

Croatia lags behind the rest of Europe when it comes to landline Internet speeds, and Telemach wants to change this, Jezina said.

“As for fixed Internet access, we are at behind everyone else. There are some urban areas where speeds are higher, but generally speaking we are lagging. That’s what we wish to change, so we are investing a lot in building an optical network, because we wish to move Croatia from its spot on the digital map of Europe. We are arriving (to the market) last, we won’t be using copper wires or other old technologies… We are starting off from the get go with the most modern fixed broadband system, a 10Gb network which is now coming to Zagreb after South Korea and Singapore,” Jezina said.

We tailor our services to users’ demand

Telecoms in Croatia often have problems with their customers because of extra costs they charge or service conditions that aren’t clearly stated, but hidden among dozens of pages of paperwork which users almost never read through.

“This is where we definitely see an opportunity and an advantage for us. Technology has been evolving very quickly, and over the last 20 years, from smartphones to cloud storage, we have changed the world. An average user in 2021 is smarter, they know what they want and everything is available to them, and I’d say that the market has not adjusted yet to users in the same way. We want to be simple, we have three mobile phone subscription plans, and three fixed line plans. We deliver what we offer. There is no small sprint, no hidden costs. We want to deliver what we have promised – maybe even more than that, but certainly not less,” Jezina said.

“If you have a 30-page document, consumers won’t read it. We are simple in the way we communicate, we don’t offer anything more than what users want from us. We adapt what we offer to what users demand, we have sorted everyone into three groups. There are no hidden costs,” Jezina added.

Jezina, who had an illustrious career in Croatia’s telecom industry, managed in only a few years to bring Telemach in Slovenia to become the fastest growing mobile network on the market, with the best network and with the best user experience. In Croatia, he said, Telemach will bring a new dynamic to the market.

“We have an 1.7 billion kuna investment cycle which is being spent on building our fixed network and improving the existing 5G network. We have hired people, we have a tried and tested group of people who have the experience, knowledge, and means to do that. we believe we have everything we need to implement this in Croatia.”

EON – anytime, anywhere, on any device!

Jezina also talked about the innovation Telemach has brought to the market – the EON platform.

“That’s a great example. We are bringing services which have been tried and tested globally. EON is one of the most modern platforms, the most popular and the fastest growing one. It connects two worlds – the linear part with more than 160 channels which can be recorded seven days back, and a catalog of on-demand content – that’s bundled together with a wealth of local and global content. This is a cutting edge platform. We have the largest amount of HD quality content, but we also offer Discovery channels, N1 television, and SportKlub, the whole package is available. The most important hing about it is that it can be used anywhere, any time, on any device – you only need an Internet connection,” Jezina said.

Asked whether Telemach would also offer cable television, Jezina said the following:

“We made EON in cooperation with a company called Solford, we are just partners doing the logistics and sales, because the current legislation in Croatia does not allow telecoms to engage in video distribution, because we have media outlets in our corporation. I think we are the only one in Europe with such legislation. A new media bill is now going through parliament, we hope that this would get changed.”

Jezina concluded by saying that the 5G network is necessary for the advancement of humankind, and that the pandemic demonstrated the importance of communications and new technologies.
