MP Bojan Glavasevic (Green-left bloc) called on his colleagues on Thursday to ask the Croatian Radio and Television (HRT) Supervisory Board, a body elected by parliament, to initiate the dismissal of the HRT director general "due to violations of the HRT Act."

Speaking in parliament, Glavasevic slammed the current management, saying it “has dragged the HRT to the bottom, responding to every criticism with lawsuit, prosecuting their own journalists, spending money in a suspect way, mobbing pregnant women, turning the information programme into the cheapest propaganda of those in power.”

He added that “evidence is coming out that this management even covered up sexual harassment of one of its members.”

Glavasevic told Culture and Media Minister Nina Obuljen-Korzinek, who was in the chamber, that “in this situation, you can be either on the side of the victim or on the side of the abuser. If you do nothing, you certainly are not on the side of the victim.”

He said “the bully, and bullies, on the HRT survive only with the political blessing of the party in power and members of the government,” urging the minister to ask them to resign.
