The Kutina-based Petrokemija mineral fertiliser manufacturer on Wednesday confirmed that the disastrous earthquake that rocked central Croatia on Tuesday, had not caused any damage to the plant, and that production was continuing as normal.

The company reported on its web site on Tuesday that although the earthquake was felt strongly in the town of Kutina, some 40 kilometres east of Sisak, an initial inspection of the plant ascertained that there was no visible damage caused and no one was injured.

The plant is currently undergoing a regular overhaul, which has additionally contributed to safety in this situation as the main energy units have been shut down and are not working, the company said.

Expert services have been instructed to conduct a detailed inspection of all key units at the plant and to conduct all the essential works.

There was absolutely no impact to the environment as a consequence of the earthquake and the equipment and services are operating normally, Petrokemija reported on Tuesday.

Today, Petrokemija informed that everything was in order and that the overhaul was continuing as planned.
